On July 17, 2026, Deepto TV correspondent Shahriar Alam Sohag and Nagorik TV correspondent Mission Ali were physically assaulted while covering a confrontation outside the Kaliganj Police Station in Jhenaidah. The journalists were recording video footage of expelled Krishok Dal leader Jalal Uddin and political activists attacking a group of women who had gathered at the station over an unfiled case involving drug trade allegations. Jalal Uddin threatened the journalists to stop filming and led a physical attack against them alongside associates Hassan, Tito, and Rabiul. Both reporters were hospitalized at the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
