Two Journalists Assaulted and Hostaged Inside Patuakhali Hospital

On June 15, 2026, Asia Post correspondent Rakibul Islam Tonu and Dainik Aajker Khobor reporter Deep Roy were brutally assaulted and held hostage inside the Patuakhali 250-Bed Hospital. The targeted violence erupted in the afternoon when the journalists sought official comments from hospital accountant Md. Hasanuzzaman regarding alleged supply chain corruption and recruitment irregularities. An outsourcing employee named Abdur Razzaq initiated the attack by smashing Tonu’s phone, after which Hasanuzzaman pinned Tonu to the floor, choked him, and stabbed him with a desk knife. The journalists were then locked inside the office for 20 minutes before being intercepted by a mob of hospital staff who dragged them to the superintendent’s office for further physical abuse.
