On June 17, 2026, video journalist Md. Imran Hossain and special representative Md. Ranjuur Rahman of the daily Khabarwala newspaper were violently assaulted in the Purba Mojampur area of Kushtia Municipality. The calculated ambush occurred at approximately 2:50 PM at the “Tetul Tala” location on Mofiz Uddin Biswas Lane while the journalists were documenting structural irregularities in a residential wall construction project. A group of ten to twelve men, led by property owners Md. Reza Chowdhury and Md. Selim Chowdhury, attacked the media team using construction tools and lethal domestic weapons, leaving Hossain with severe head lacerations requiring immediate admission to the Kushtia 250-Bed General Hospital.
