Three journalists were brutally attacked while recording photos and videos of illegal sand extraction in the North Harbang area of Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM on February 22, 2026. The injured journalists are Choton Kanti Nath (Chakaria Correspondent for Kaler Kantho and Dainik Azadi), Iqbal Faruk (Correspondent for Amar Desh and Dainik Purbodesh), and M. Ziyabul Haque (Correspondent for Dainik Sangbad and Suprobhat Bangladesh). During the assault, Choton Kanti Nath sustained a severe head injury, Iqbal Faruk’s right palm was slashed, and M. Ziyabul Haque suffered a fractured arm.
