A case has been filed in Middlenagar upazila of Sunamganj following a recent protest procession held by the banned political party Awami League. In that incident, a case was lodged naming 48 individuals from the Middlenagar Upazila Awami League, Chhatra League, and Jubo League as accused. A journalist from the neighboring Tahirpur Upazila in Middlenagar was also named as an accused in this lawsuit. Shahajahan Mia, convener of the Banshikunda North Union BNP in the upazila, filed the case under the Special Powers Act at Middlenagar Police Station on August 30, 2026.
