A protest erupted at the state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) on February 18, 2026, over allegations of irregularities, corruption and harassment of journalists and employees. A joint meeting involving journalists, officers and staff was held to address these grievances. During the incident, the agency’s Managing Director, Mahbub Morshed, was reportedly kept besieged in his office. However, Mahbub Morshed posted on Facebook claiming that he was being forcibly removed through the creation of a mob and an attack on the office, which included locking the premises.
