An allegation of assault has been raised against BNP and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists targeting Mohammad Zubair, the district correspondent for Star News Television in Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram. On the afternoon of August 5, 2026, ruling party activists dragged him out of the event venue at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium, where he was covering the July Mass Uprising Day program, and severely beat him. Police officers present at the spot rescued journalist Zubair and sent him to the Ulipur Health Complex for treatment.
