Ahmed Salehin, a reporter for Somoy TV, was physically harassed during a civic mourning ceremony held on the National Parliament premises in memory of the recently deceased former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia. On January 16, 2026, while Salehin was broadcasting live, Saleh Uddin, a member of the organizing ‘Civic Society,’ obstructed his broadcast and physically assaulted him. During the incident, Salehin was repeatedly heard stating that he was on a live broadcast.
