Police reported the recovery of the body of senior journalist Bibhu Ranjan Sarker from the Meghna River in Munshiganj, one day after he went missing. On the afternoon of August 22, 2025, locals spotted his body floating in the river near Char Balaki, at the border of Sonargaon in Narayanganj and Gajaria in Munshiganj and alerted the emergency service 999. Subsequently, the naval police recovered the remains. Prior to this, the veteran journalist had been missing for approximately 30 hours after leaving his residence in Dhaka’s Siddheswari, reportedly on his way to his office.
