On July 15, 2026, Star News reporter Nazmul Huq and several fellow journalists were physically assaulted by protesting HSC candidates inside the Bangladesh Secretariat. The assault occurred around 4:45 PM as media personnel attempted to cover a student delegation entering the area under police guidance. When journalists questioned students who blocked their path over alleged safety concerns, an enraged demonstrator grabbed Huq by his shirt collar and shoved him. A student mob then mobbed and battered Huq, while also assaulting other reporters who stepped in to protect him. Duty police officers intervened to disperse the attackers and extract the injured journalists.
