Dhaka based digital investigative media outlet The Descent was the first in Bangladesh to report that among the 17 members of the militant group Tehrik-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) killed in a security forces operation in Pakistan on September 26, one was a Bangladeshi national named Faisal Hossain. Following the publication of this report, various objectionable posts targeting The Descent’s editor, Qadaruddin Shishir , have been circulating on social media.
