In Sreepur, Magura, a journalist was assaulted by a police member while documenting irregularities at a fuel station. On the morning of April 16, 2026, Abdur Rashid, the Sreepur correspondent for Dainik Alokito Sakal, was recording video of mismanagement at the facility. During the reporting, a police member named Nazmul, stationed at Sreepur Police Station, physically attacked him. Nazmul reportedly pushed the journalist to the ground, snatched his mobile phone and attempted to delete the recorded footage to suppress evidence of the irregularities.
