Offensive political messaging and images depicting violence were observed on the website of DMP News, the online news portal of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
During the night of October 31, 2026, visitors to the website could see an image of police personnel, scenes of violence, and an image carrying the message: “Police, no matter how much you beat us, can you forget August 5?” Background music was also playing on the website.
Later, at around 8:00 am on November 1, an attempt to access the website returned the message “This site can’t be reached,” indicating that the website was inaccessible at that time.
Media outlets attempted to contact the DMP Media Division and several other officials by phone to seek comments on the incident. However, none of them answered the calls.
At the time of writing this report, the DMP News website was accessible again and appeared to be functioning normally.
It could not be independently confirmed how the political message and violent imagery appeared on the website, or whether they resulted from unauthorised access, a technical error, or another cause. No official statement from the DMP was available regarding the incident.
