A press release confirmed that the decision was made during a management committee meeting on February 24, 2026, presided over by Press Club President Hasan Hafiz. The notice, signed by Ayub Bhuiyan, identified the banned journalists as Golam Mujtaba Dhruba, Saif Ali, Soheli Chowdhury, Sajeda Haque and Rahima Khanom.
