Journalists Barred from ICT Despite Open Court Order

Journalists were barred from entering International Crimes Tribunal-1 today, February 2, 2026, during the hearing of a high-profile enforced disappearance case involving 17 accused from the Task Force for Interrogation (TFI) cell. Although the prosecution requested an in-camera trial for witness safety, the Tribunal Chairman rejected it and ordered an open court hearing. Despite the court’s order, security personnel prevented journalists from entering, claiming they were acting on instructions from the prosecution. The prosecution later acknowledged the restriction, describing it as “limited access” rather than a total ban.
