Several journalists were attacked and injured at Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Dhaka on May 30, 2026. The violence erupted shortly after Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bokul inspected the facility and discovered an illegal bakery factory operating on the hospital’s upper floors. The minister publicly expressed outrage, noting that authorities would investigate whether toxic gases from the bakery contributed to the tragic deaths of six newborns at the hospital. When journalists attempted to capture visual evidence of the bakery, the hospital management unleashed their security guards and cleaning staff, who were armed with sharp local weapons.
