On June 18, 2026, three journalists were physically assaulted by Marketing Department students on campus. The victim journalists, Maruf Hossain Mishon, Zubair Jishan, and Abu Bakar Anik, were targeted after Mishon recorded video evidence of senior students ragging juniors in a bicycle garage. Despite the arrival of University Proctor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman and Marketing Department Chairman Professor Borak Ali to mediate, a mob of senior students ambush-attacked the group as they walked toward the proctor’s office. Assailants, including Habibur Rahman Himel and Mahmudul Hasan Jihad, repeatedly punched and kicked the victims while threatening Mishon with further harm if the ragging footage was not deleted. Both the Proctor and Assistant Proctor Jahurul Islam explicitly condemned the targeted violence as a severe violation of university regulations and promised formal administrative punishments against the identified perpetrators.
