A defamation case worth Tk 1,000 crore has been filed against a journalist named Mahbub Alam Arif in Cumilla. Following a news report, the case was lodged against Arif, the Muradnagar correspondent of the daily Manobkantha, by Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan, Joint Convener of Muradnagar Upazila BNP. He filed the case on July 9, 2025, with the Cumilla Senior Judicial Magistrate’s 11th Amli Court.
