Sharif Omar Tutul, a local journalist, was brutally attacked and severely injured while attempting to record video footage of an armed showdown between two local BNP factions competing for control of the jhut (garment waste) trade at the Indesor Sweater Factory. The incident took place on August 13, 2026, in the Deger Chala area under Ward No. 32 of Gazipur City. The injured reporter, Sharif Omar Tutul, serves as the Gazipur City Correspondent for Daily Protidiner Kagoj. Following the attack, he was rescued and rushed to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, where he received medical treatment and 17 stitches for severe head wounds.
