In a video published by NTV Online, a local journalist recorded himself inside an Upazila administrative office detailing a violent physical attack he experienced. The victim stated that while attending an official meeting, he was unprovokedly assaulted by Abdul Latif, Senior Vice-President of the Upazila BNP, who tore his clothes and inflicted head injuries. Showing his torn shirt and head injury to the camera, the journalist emphasized that he had published investigative reports against illegal sand extraction (“balu”) and held no prior personal disputes with the perpetrator. He publicly called upon local authorities and citizens to ensure justice for the assault.
