Dual lawsuits have been filed in Khagrachhari against Dhaka-based working journalist Md. Abul Hossain, also known as A H M Faruk. Although the two cases were filed at Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station on August 30, 2026, the matter came to light on September 13. M N Absar, General Secretary of Khagrachhari District BNP and a newly appointed member of the Hill District Council, filed one case. Another case under the Information Technology Act was filed by H M Profulla, alias Profulla Moy Dutta, General Secretary of Khagrachhari Press Club and district correspondent for Banglavision Television. Journalist A H M Faruk is a member of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB). He has served as the Executive Editor of Daily Inqilab, Daily Alokitobangladesh, Bangla TV, Daily Bangladesher Khobor, Paribartan.com, and most recently Manobadhikar Khobor. Currently, he works as a freelancer writing op-eds and columns for various media outlets.
