In the border upazila of Dowarabazar in Sunamganj, drug dealers hacked M A Motaleb Bhuiyan, general secretary of the upazila press club and upazila correspondent for the Daily Sangbad, for publishing news against narcotics. Police arrested a person named Ahad Bhuiyan in connection with this incident. The attack took place at 8:00 PM on October 18, 2026, at Chowdhurypara Bazar in Banglabazar union of the upazila. Locals rescued the injured journalist and took him to Dowarabazar Health Complex, where after receiving primary treatment, he was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care.
