K. M. Bacchu, the Kuakata correspondent for Dainik Desh Rupantor, was severely injured in a hammer attack outside Hotel Shoikot in Kuakata around 11:30 PM on Saturday. According to local reports, the attack was led by Baizid Rana, President of the local Ward Chhatra Dal, and Harun Musulli, Religious Affairs Secretary of the Kuakata Pourashava Jubo Dal. Bacchu sustained severe injuries to his head and legs and was initially admitted to Kuakata Hospital before being transferred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal as his condition deteriorated. Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway to take legal action against the perpetrators.
