BNP Leader Threatens Lawsuit Against Two Journalists Over School Committee Report in Rajshahi

On July 3, 2026, Ehsanul Kabir Tuku, President of the Matikata Union unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Godagari, held a press conference at a restaurant near Saheb Bazar Zero Point in Rajshahi to issue a warning of legal action against two journalists. Tuku claimed that an unregistered online news portal and a newspaper published fabricated news alleging that he forcibly seized the ad-hoc presidency of Bhatopara Girls’ School and Premtali Girls’ High School. Refuting the allegations, Tuku clarified that the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) serves as the official president of both institutions, attributing the published reports to political rivals exploiting internal party factions to damage his reputation. Accompanied by district BNP members, Tuku announced that he intends to file a formal lawsuit against the journalists.
