Kabir Hossain, the Chief Feature Photographer for the country’s leading national daily Daily Prothom Alo, was hacked with sharp weapons in Munshiganj. The brutal attack occurred in broad daylight at around 12:30 PM on June 2, 2026, in the Dosarpara area of Sirajdikhan Upazila. A group of local thugs, led by a regional political leader, ambushed Hossain and his younger brother. While the younger brother was severely beaten, Hossain was targeted with sharp weapons, leaving him with critical hacking injuries. Following the incident, the Sirajdikhan police acted swiftly, launching a raid that led to the immediate arrest of the primary instigator, Jahangir Madbor, who serves as the President of Ward No. 7 BNP in Lotobdi Union.
