Somoy Television’s Barishal bureau chief, Apurba Apu, was the target of an abduction attempt on May 29, 2022, around 3:30 p.m. in front of the Mumitu Community Center on Uttar Bogura Road. While walking home from his office, a group of 4–5 men tried to force him into a private car. Apu suspects the attempt was linked to his reporting on illegal diagnostic centers.
