In Shariatpur’s Naria upazila, BNP’s organizational secretary Motiur Rahman Sagor has been accused of threatening to implicate a journalist in false cases over news reporting. On the night of October 7, 2025, Ashiqur Rahman,Shariatpur correspondent of the online news portal Barta Bazar and Vedarganj upazila correspondent of Samakal received the threat over a phone call. During the call he was told, “If any case is filed in Naria, be prepared. You will be accused in every case. Let’s see who saves you.” Seeking safety, the journalist filed a General Diary (GD) at Vedarganj Police Station on October 8 at around 7 p.m.
