Bangladesh Television- BTV

In 1964, the Dhaka station of the Pakistan Television Corporation was launched. After Bangladesh’s independence in 1971, it was renamed Bangladesh Television (BTV) in 1972. It began with black and white broadcasts, later transitioning to color transmission and satellite signals, eventually becoming the country’s primary state-owned television channel. As the first national broadcaster, it played a significant role for many years in promoting information and culture. However, over time, it gradually transformed into a one-dimensional platform. The general public has developed the perception that its main function is to broadcast messages of the government and the ruling party. In an era of modern and diverse media, such a one-sided presentation has called its credibility into question, especially among the younger generation.
