Channel Resumes After Long Ban

On May 6, 2013, at around 4:20 a.m. local time, Diganta TV was shut down by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) under government orders. A team of 12 to 15 members of the Detective Branch police, led by BTRC Director Sazzad Hossain, enforced the directive citing ‘high level government instructions.’ The Awami League government suspended the channel’s broadcast on allegations of incitement, rumor mongering, and irresponsible reporting. After 11 years, on August 8, 2024, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting officially lifted the suspension on the channel.
