In Rangpur, senior journalist Liaquat Ali Badol, working with Daily Sangbad, Ekushey Television, and Bangla Tribune was forcibly taken into the City Corporation’s CEO office room, where he was beaten, harassed, and forced to apologize on September 21, 2025. The incident involved individuals linked to the “July Joddha” group, who had applied for autorickshaw licenses under the City Corporation. Earlier, on September 17, Daily Sangbad published a report titled ‘Autorickshaw Licenses in Rangpur under July Joddha Name, Plot for Tk 5 Crore Trade’. The attack is believed to have taken place in retaliation for this report.
