On the night of April 13, 2022, in Burichang, Cumilla, Mohiuddin Sarkar Naim, a staff reporter of Cumillar Dak, was shot dead by drug traffickers. The incident took place in Shankuchail, a Bangladesh–India border area of Burichang. Drug dealers were enraged at Mohiuddin for assisting law enforcement by providing information that led to drug seizures and for publishing reports on the drug trade.
