On August 4, 2024, protesters attacked the Raiganj Upazila Awami League office in Sirajganj. Many Awami League members took shelter in the nearby Raiganj Press Club. Protesters then attacked them there as well. During the violence, journalist Pradip Kumar, who was present at the press club, was beaten and injured. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
