The injured victims are Ahmad Sohan Siraji, representative of Star News; Raiyan Bin Amin, representative of Ekattor TV; and Md. Uzzal Hossain, cameraman for Ekattor TV.
The attacked media workers informed Bangladesh Media Monitor that upon receiving news of a clash between police and workers in the morning, they went to Padma Mor in Hemayetpur to collect news. At that time, after taking statements from a few agitated workers and moving slightly ahead to collect footage of the scene, a group of masked individuals from among the protesters attacked them with sticks upon learning of their journalistic identity.
During this time, the attackers beat the three media workers indiscriminately with sticks and bricks. At one point, a few people from the surrounding area stepped forward, reasoned with the attackers, and allowed the journalists an opportunity to move away from the scene, enabling them to leave the area.
