An incident occurred where journalists’ mobile phones were seized while gathering news on a garment workers’ demonstration in Mirpur. The incident took place on November 1, 2026. During a live news broadcast, police first snatched the mobile phone of Mahbub Islam, a multimedia reporter for Kaler Kantho and terminated the live stream. Simultaneously, an attempt was made to snatch the mobile phone of Saiful Islam, a staff reporter for OSB News, which also caused his live broadcast to be disrupted and turned off. Later, Mahbub Islam’s phone was returned. Saiful Islam informed Bangladesh Media Monitor about the entire incident.
