Organization officially transitions from BMM to BDMM, adopts new digital flashlight identity, launches a shorter domain bdmm.org, and scales institutional operations to combat information warfare.
DHAKA, October 28, 2026 — Bangladesh Media Monitor (BDMM) today marks its 3rd anniversary, celebrating three years of dedicated efforts in defending journalist safety and fostering accountable media across Bangladesh. Originally launched on 28 October 2023, the initiative continues its core mission while entering a new chapter of organizational growth and modernized visual identity.
To reflect its evolving mission, the organization has officially updated its abbreviation and branding from BMM to BDMM. Accompanying this transition is a refreshed wordmark in Crimson Red, symbolizing alertness and an active commitment to tracking risks and threats faced by journalists. Furthermore, BDMM has updated its symbolic icon from a traditional flame torch to a digital Flashlight, representing its commitment to shining a clearer and brighter light on truth.
As part of its digital upgrade, the organization has simplified its web presence, moving to a shorter domain: bdmm.org.
Beyond visual updates, BDMM is expanding its operational scope. While initially established to monitor media accountability, the organization has broadened its focus to address information warfare and protect the fair rights of journalists.
“We initially started with a focus on media accountability, but today we actively work across all aspects of media, from navigating information warfare to securing fair rights for journalists,” stated Munware Alam Nirjhor, Founder and Principal Director of BDMM. “To build on our progress, we are structuring BDMM more institutionally in the coming year to operate at double our pace and address ongoing challenges.”
Acknowledging the contributions of its volunteer network, BDMM emphasized that protecting truth tellers requires a collective effort to ensure a safer and more accountable media environment under its guiding principle: “Defend the Truth. Protect the Teller.”
