Following the publication of a news report regarding allegations of money embezzlement under the pretext of providing jobs, Md. Ariful Islam, Organizational Secretary of the Manikganj District Committee of the National Citizen Party (NCP), filed a BDT 20 million (2 Crore) defamation lawsuit against the editor and Manikganj district correspondent Saiful Islam of the online news portal ZoomBangla.com. The lawsuit was filed on October 26, 2026, in the Manikganj Sadar Cognizance Court. It is learned that allegations related to defamation and criminal intimidation through news publication were brought in the C.R. case filed under Sections 499, 500, and 506(2) of the Penal Code.
