An allegation of assault has been raised against local perpetrators targeting a local media worker named Ismail Hossain while gathering news regarding roadwork in Chandraganj, Lakshmipur. The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 1, 2026, in the Chandraganj Bazar area of the upazila. The injured victim, Ismail, is the Chandraganj upazila correspondent for the Daily Jonobani newspaper and the son of Md. Alam from the local Basuduhita village. Local businessmen Enamul Haq Fahad, Nur Hossain Onik, Morshed Alam, Sabbir, Sirat Hossain, and Azim Hossain initially obstructed him. At one point, they beat him up.
