Journalist Mahbub Ul Ahsan Ullas, who was attacked while gathering information on the use of substandard construction materials in road development work in Kumarkhali, Kushtia, has filed a case. The attack took place on September 19, 2019, around 12:30 PM in the Kundupara area. Later, locals rescued the injured journalist and took him to the Kumarkhali Upazila Health Complex. The case names 11 individuals including Anwar Hossain, brother of Jamaat MP Afzal Hossain from the Kushtia-4 (Kumarkhali-Khoksa) constituency, his son Shobhan Hossain and bodyguard Ruhul Amin along with 20 to 25 unidentified individuals as accused.
