Private satellite television Channel 1 broadcast a news report on State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam on August 29, 2026. On that very night, a cyber attack was launched on the television channel’s Facebook page and YouTube channel to take down the report. The following day, on August 30, the television’s IT team managed to restore the video on Facebook after continuous technical efforts. Bangladesh Media Monitor has confirmed that prior to preparing this report, when the reporter went to interview Shahe Alam, the State Minister called the reporter into his room and subjected him to threats and intimidation.
