An allegation of issuing direct threats to another journalist has surfaced against Shariatpur District BNP Joint General Secretary Arifuzzaman M0lla, following the assault on three journalists in Shariatpur. When contacted over the phone regarding the incident, he threatened the journalist saying, “You will write and we will beat.” On the afternoon of August 25, 2026, Palash Khan, President of Jajira Upazila Press Club and Shariatpur correspondent for Sonali News, called BNP leader Arifuzzaman Mulla to inquire about the reasons behind the assault on the journalists. It was during this call that he was threatened in this manner.
