The incident reportedly took place on May 7, 2026. The journalist published news on the social media platform Facebook detailing corruption in a road construction project in Monohardi Upazila. Tensions escalated immediately after the post, culminating in the physical attack on the reporter. Masudur Rahman Sohag, the Member Secretary of Monohardi Jubo Dal, who came under discussion regarding his involvement, later admitted responsibility for the attack in a statement, claiming that the incident occurred due to a “mistake.”
