On May 20, 2026, a Star News investigative reporter was brutally assaulted by a mob acting under the orders of a local contractor. The targeted attack began at 4:05 PM outside the Faridpur Diabetes Hospital, where assailants ambushed the journalist before chasing him up to the 10th floor to continue the assault until hospital staff intervened. The violence was a direct reprisal for a May 12 field investigation with an RTV colleague that exposed severe corruption and structural cracking in an LGED road project in Bhanga Upazila. A formal case was filed on May 21 at the Faridpur Kotwali Police Station against Saidur and Sabbir, though no arrests have been made.
