Family Starts Fast-Unto-Death Demanding Arrest of BNP Volunteer Wing Leader Over Threats to Journalist in Sirajganj

On July 28, 2026, the family and relatives of Shariful Islam Inna, General Secretary of the Sirajganj Press Club, launched a fast-unto-death hunger strike at the Bazar Station area in Sirajganj town. The protest follows severe threats issued on July 26 by Sanoar Hossain Sanu, Joint Convener of the Sirajganj District Volunteer Wing (Swechchhasebak Dal). Inna’s wife, Shapla Ahmed, stated that Sanu called her son, Shafin Ahmed Zishan, threatening to abduct and murder him, cut off Journalist Inna’s legs, and verbally abuse her. Protesters are demanding the immediate arrest of Sanu and his permanent expulsion from the political organization.
