On July 25, 2026, Md. Akash Mahmud, Rajbari district multimedia reporter for Kaler Kantho and district representative for NPB, was attacked while reporting on a violent clash at the Moishala Bus Stand area in Pangsha, Rajbari. The altercation erupted around 6:00 PM when local auto-rickshaw drivers launched a stick-wielding attack on student representatives—including Sagar Shikdar—who had arrived to mediate a harassment complaint involving HSC candidates. When Mahmud recorded video footage of the assault, the drivers attacked him, forcibly deleted the video from his phone, and chased him off. Mahmud and around 10 to 12 others were injured and admitted to the hospital for treatment. Pangsha Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Moinul Islam visited the scene and confirmed that legal action will follow upon receiving a written complaint.
