On August 8, 2026, Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) member and Bangla Affairs Editor Mujahedul Islam (Raju Hamid) along with a reporter were physically assaulted while gathering information on corruption and undisclosed assets in the Gangadharpatti area of Manikganj. A group led by accused individuals Nazmul Hasan and Al Mamun attacked the journalists, vandalized their motorcycle, and forcibly took their camera, tripod, and cash while issuing open death threats. DRU President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel issued a joint statement strongly condemning the attack and robbery. A formal complaint has been filed with the Manikganj Police Station, with DRU demanding swift legal action against the perpetrators.
