On July 2, 2026, Didar Ul Alam Bijoy, former Vice-President of the Mongla Press Club and port correspondent for Daily Bangladesh News and Dainik BD News, filed General Diary (GD) number 84 at the Mongla Police Station following targeted death threats. The intimidation stemmed from an investigative documentary published on June 26, 2026, exposing an active yaba trafficking syndicate operating around Mongla Port under a criminal faction known as the “Masud Bahini,” led by Reza Masud alias Masud. Following the broadcast, syndicate operatives sent explicit death threats to Bijoy via Facebook Messenger and dispatched armed men to threaten the sources who provided interviews for the report. Mongla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Atiqur Rahman confirmed that a formal investigation is underway and promised strict legal action to ensure the safety of the journalist and his informants.
