On June 20, 2026, Daily Swadesh Pratidin and Daily Bangladesh Tribune Patuakhali correspondent Md. Rajib Hossain received severe death and legal harassment threats over the phone. The intimidation stemmed from an investigative report Hossain published on June 11 regarding local allegations in the Kolagachia area of Mirzaganj Upazila. The suspect, identified as Sourav Khan, called the journalist in the morning, subjected him to verbal abuse, and threatened to execute him and entangle him in fabricated lawsuits. In response to the targeted harassment, Hossain filed General Diary (GD) number 1052 at the Patuakhali Sadar Police Station, citing intense security concerns for his family.
