Sobuj Shahriar, the Harinakundu upazila correspondent for the national daily Daily Kalbela, was brutally beaten with hammers and iron rods. The targeted attack occurred at around 9:00 PM on June 3, 2026, in Beltala village under the Jradah Union of Jhenaidah. A gang of local thugs ambushed Shahriar, intentionally inflicting severe orthopedic and bodily trauma with blunt weapons before fleeing the scene. Shahriar was rushed to the hospital and is currently undergoing extensive medical treatment at Kushtia General Hospital due to the critical nature of his injuries.
