A three-member media crew from VOD Bangla was physically attacked, held hostage, and threatened with death in Dhaka’s East Rampura area. The harrowing incident took place on the evening of July 2, 2026, while Senior Multimedia Reporters Joy Christopher Biswas and Mujahidul Islam Naim, along with Cameraperson Shawon, were gathering news on-site. The assailants forcibly confined the journalists for an extended period, subjecting them to severe intimidation and death threats. To eliminate all professional recordings, the attackers forced the crew to delete their gathered video footage and deliberately snatched and smashed Naim’s smartphone.
