BD Pratidin Reporter Assaulted Near Cox’s Bazar SP Office

Mijanur Rahman, the Kutubdia upazila correspondent for the national daily Daily Bangladesh Pratidin, was brutally assaulted by a group of criminals in Cox’s Bazar. The incident took place in broad daylight around 12:30 PM on June 17, 2026, at the busy Police Super (SP) Office intersection on Shahid Sarani Road. According to the victim, a group of miscreants armed with sticks launched an unprovoked attack on him. He further alleged that the attackers mugged him and fled with cash. Mijanur also disclosed that an individual named Abdullah had threatened him with death just a few days prior to the assault. This brazen attack right next to the district’s central police headquarters highlights the terrifying level of insecurity faced by regional reporters at the hands of local criminal elements.
